2013~ LOOK WHAT'S GROWING SERIES ~ FOUNTAIN PLANTER

We have a water fountain in our garden that has been a mosquito magnet for years.
Sorry, I drained it before I took pictures.
But this is what remained....
EWWW....NASTY!

I've decided to turn it into a planter.
I needed some muscle to drill trough the 3 inch thick concrete so my
Hubby helped me drill the holes for drainage.

We used this heavy duty drill....

And a drill bit made just for drilling thru concrete.

Here she is nice and filled with compost, Mel's Mix and some
Kellogg N'Rich Garden Soil Enriching Compost...love this stuff!

And planted with a few clipping I cut from my driveway potted plants.  I plan on planting some edibles in there too!

All done for now!
NICE!!
No more yucky, stinky, mosquito water!!!

2013 ~ LOOK WHAT'S GROWING SERIES - CLEANING FLATS, SHELVING FOR SEEDS, TOOLS SHARPENED, BLUEBIRD HOUSES, STOCKED GREENHOUSE & GARDEN BEDS...WHEEEEW!

Today I'm going to combine a bunch of posts in one so that I can catch up on what's happening now.
I have been taking lots of pictures,
but I have been so busy getting ready for the growing season that I haven't had time to post them.
So here goes....

- Cleaning of Gardening Pots & Flats.
I washed all my garden flats and pots in my kids bath tub...eeeewwww!  It was a MESS!!  I was too lazy to do it last year--Note to self, after plants have been moved into the garden, clean them OUTSIDE..always!!

- Setting up indoor shelving with light for seedlings.

- Shelves filled with my new growing seedlings!

- Sharpened all of my gardening tools, shears & everything that needed to be sharp!

- I built two Bluebird houses to see if I could get some birds in my garden to eat the bad bugs.  Houses are up....no birds yet!

-I stocked my greenhouse with a few more flats, vermiculite, peat moss, compost, & yes, I course, my PINK HELLO KITTY radio I acquired from my daughter (she doesn't use it anymore).

- started preparing my square foot garden beds for this years crop.

So far this is what I have been up to for the past couple of weeks!  Busy, busy, busy.
Lots happening,
I hope to be more organized for this years growing season.
Until later!

PRIMARY TREATS ~ GOOD SHEPHARD

For my Primary Class in church on Sunday,
I taught my little Primary Class about
"Jesus Christ is the Good Shephard".
Since the lesson was about SHEEP,
I made these little guys for them, filled with marshmallows.
I also had them glue cotton to the white section for the sheep hair.
I used my SILHOUETTE CAMEO to cut out the sheep.
  It was soooo easy!

2012 "WHAT'S GROWING SERIES"~RECYCLED FENCE TO GARDEN TRELLIS

Hi everyone!  Another garden project completed!  And more recycling to go with it.  As you can tell I have a bunch of fences that I have been recycling.  I love turning old thing that I would have thrown away a couple of months ago, into amazing new useful STUFF!!

Here are the supplies I used to build my
NEW GARDEN TRELLIS!
1. Old Fences
2. Shelter from the SUN!!!
3. Shipping Boxes (I had laying around)
4. Portable Table Saw.
I also used my trusted Porter Cable Combo(I just love this tool!)

1).  Took apart the fences.

2).  Ripped the fences into smaller pieces using the table saw.

3). Used the Priority Boxes for measuring each square
.....I hate to measure, and this way worked so much faster for me!
They all come out "even steven"

4). Here she is almost done.

5).

6).  You'll notice the ugly, orange, temporary fence I have up in the background :-)
That's where my fences came from..hehe.
(Getting new fence installed this week!)  Yeah!

7).  Here she is in her new home!

I'll have more gardening updates coming soon!
Thanks for stopping by.
